Socially awkward but highly ambitious
1. Social awkwardness - Yes that is still the first stage
2. "I want to make new friends" stage
* Try really hard to talk to new people, and not look intrusive in the process - unfortunately you are still the outsider
3. "People pleaser" stage
* Do and / or say things that the acquaintances like and / or do
* The "they are always right" -attitude
* Lose all self-importance in the process
* Try your best not to overdo it OR you will be branded 'People pleaser'
4. Social awkwardness - It hasn't gone away yet...But you are trying - Bravo!
5. Attend all the parties, Laugh at all jokes, postpone all of your work to be 'seen' with the right crowd
* Be painfully aware that you are invited as required 'head-count'
6. Eventually start seeing that you don't fit in
7. Sudden self-importance build up
* It is everyone else's fault that they are not seeking you out
* It is everyone else's fault they don't find you appealing
8. Social awkwardness - Oh well...This hasn't gone away yet, has it?
9. Lesson
Lesson:
1. Everyone has an idea of an 'appealing individual' - all different2. People pleasing is an arduous task - everyone likes a 'somebody' and that's way too many bodies to be at any given time
3. The cliche (probably true) - Real friends like you for who you are. Chances are there aren't many who like 'who you are'
4. A 'Don't-care' attitude is the other extreme, and you are fooling yourself that you can pull it off
5. "Once Socially Awkward - Always Socially awkward" is an escapist strategy. But Giving-up is a strategy that works
